Personal Things You Shouldn’t Discuss

Fortunately for me, I don’t have many complaints about my husband; and when I do, they are pretty minor (like the fact that he lets our four-year-old listen to Katy Perry when I’m not home). However, even when I do have something to say about him, I tend to keep most things to myself. There are just some things that even my best friend doesn’t need to know, even though what I have to say is good stuff. For the sake of your marriage, you need to know that there are things you simply cannot share with anyone outside of your marriage.

Your Husband is a Jerk

You may forgive him when he’s acting like an idiot, but your friends probably won’t. Of course, it’s fine to complain to them from time to time, but if your complaints are common, your friends are going to start to dislike him, and that’s going to wreck some of the relationships in your life. You can forgive him, they can’t.

Finances

It doesn’t matter how much your friends make or how much money you make; you don’t discuss it. It doesn’t matter whose house is bigger or whose car is more expensive. Believe me when I tell you that the person with the most expensive car might be the person with the least money. Do your marriage a favor and don’t discuss your income.

Your Debt

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have any or you have a ton; don’t discuss it. You don’t want to be excluded from fun activities because you talk about how much debt you have and your friends think that you can’t afford to join them on vacation. You also don’t want your friends feeling resentment toward you because you don’t have any debt and are doing better than they are.
