Halloween Safety Tips for Your Pets

Happy Halloween! Finally, on this Halloween day, we have to remember that this is a day all about the kids and the spooky nature of witches and goblins and ghosts (oh my!) but it’s also about your pet. Some people want to use their pets as part of their Halloween celebration, and that’s awesome. Particularly if you have a solid black cat who will perch his scary body on the windowsill where everyone passing by can see him on Halloween night. However, there are a few Halloween safety tips to keep in mind for your pets this holiday.

Choose Safe Costumes

Not all animals want to wear costumes (and I don’t get people who dress up their animals in the first place, but to each his own) but if yours does, make sure it’s a safe one. Believe it or not, you can seriously injure your animal if you aren’t careful about his clothes. Be sure nothing you put your animal in is too tight, too hot or dangerous in other ways, such as being flammable.

Keep Cats Inside

Yes, having a black cat on Halloween is a fun perk of having one, but keep it inside. There are always those people who want to do harm to animals on a night like tonight and a black cat is one of those animals that doesn’t have much luck on Halloween night. Don’t allow your cat or dogs to wander around the yard on this evening.

Keep Away the Candy

Do not give your animals Halloween candy and keep the candy your kids acquire in a safe place your animals cannot get to it. Many human foods are very dangerous to cats and dogs and other animals, especially chocolate. Keep it out of your animal’s reach to ensure your animal stays safe this Halloween.
