Three Great At Home Date Night Ideas

Now that you have kids you might look back on life before and wonder why you took all those free nights and the ability to get up and go on a whim for granted. Sure, you can still do that with your kids, but let’s face it; date night isn’t as much fun when you’re picking up toys from the floor, cutting chicken tenders and escorting tiny bladders to the changing table or restroom (and just think how much more difficult it is to enjoy date night if you bring the kids and not just your husband – I couldn’t resist).

Kids are wonderful, but date night is something you have to have sometimes to keep romance alive – and your sanity intact. If you can’t get out without the kids as often as you’d like, utilize bedtime to date your spouse in the comfort of your own home.

Indoor Picnic

Kiss those babies of your good night and get your picnic on. It’s not the beach or a field of wildflowers, but that doesn’t make it any less romantic. Lay a blanket on the floor, pop open a bottle of champagne and indulge yourselves in chocolate covered strawberries while enjoying the peace and quiet of your own home. It’s romantic, sweet and it’s something you can do without the use of a babysitter – or grandma.

At Home Movie Date

Who says you have to spend $12 per ticket to enjoy a movie date? Once the kids are asleep, pop some popcorn, put on your PJs and curl up on the couch with your love to watch a movie you pick up at Redbox or even through Netflix. It’s virtually free, you can pause it to go to the restroom, you don’t have to sneak in a bottle of wine to enjoy with the movie and no one will talk too loudly.

Build a Fire

Roast some marshmallows in your fire pit or just build a little fire in the yard – provided your area is not in the midst of a draught or at particular risk for wild fires. This kind of date is better suited to a cool evening, but that’s not to say you cannot enjoy a good fire at any time.
