Three Little Lies We Should All Unlearn

It never ceases to amaze me how many people live their lives with such negativity. I find it difficult to understand when someone is so negative about their life when they have no real reason to be so negative. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that there is a reason for the unhappiness and negativity of so many people; they’ve fallen for the lies that we are incorrectly raised to believe, and they live by those incorrect rules. If you are one of those people, it’s time to unlearn those lies and start living happy.

Happiness is Not Achieved Only When You Have it All

Yes, it’s nice to have it all, but that isn’t a right to becoming happy. Having it all doesn’t automatically make you happy, and not having it all doesn’t automatically mean you should be miserable. In fact, you should be happy simply because you woke up this morning. Not everyone was that lucky, you know. When you find time to appreciate what you have rather than longing for what you want, you will find that you actually are quite happy with your life, and you’ll be a better person because of it. You shouldn’t focus so much on the destination that you forget to enjoy the trip.

There is No Instruction Book for Life

Life is not “supposed” to be anything other than life. There is no law saying you have to grow up, go to college, work nine to five, go home, make dinner, and do it all over again the next day. Life is supposed to be what makes you happy and fulfilled (as long as it’s legal). If you’d rather skip college, forgo the nine to five, and eat takeout every night while you work on your life’s passion, go for it.

You Are Not “Supposed” To Be A Certain Way

Sorry, but you don’t have to be the same person as everyone else. You’re allowed to be different. You are allowed to think I’m crazy for spending $800 on a pair of shoes and I’m allowed to think you are crazy for not doing the same. We are all allowed to be who we are, as long as we are happy and law abiding citizens. I don’t have to be just like you and you don’t have to be just like me. That’s the beauty of life.
