The Best Beaches for Swimming

There are people who love the beach and there are people that hate the beach. There is no in-between. As a beach-lover, you might wonder how anyone could hate the beach. As a beach-hater, you might wonder how people could love the beach; here’s the answer. As a born and raised Florida girl with just 7 miles separating me and the ocean, I hate the beach. I hate sand and I hate sticky salt water. But I love the beach. I love it from the deck of a restaurant on which I can sit with a cocktail and enjoy the view. For those who love the beach, however, there is a bit of a problem. Not all beaches make for good swimming. If you’re looking to head to the beach this summer, here are the three best beaches in the US for swimmers.

Siesta Beach, Florida

With white sand beach and water that reaches up to 89 degrees in the summer, Siesta Beach is perfect for swimming. The water is calm and clear, which makes it safer for swimmers. You can see what’s in the water with you – which is something most people prefer in a beach – and you don’t have to worry about your kids being taken out by a bigger-than-usual wave.

Coronado Beach, California

It’s the cleanest, clearest water in the state. It’s also the warmest water in the state. If you’re not from Florida, where you get used to water that reaches almost 90 degrees, you might even like the water here when it reaches the upper 60s. It might seem cold to the rest of us, but on a hot day, it’s the perfect way to relax. Taking a swim in this water is refreshing and good for your body, mind and soul.

Lanikai Beach, Hawaii

There’s a coral reef with tropical fish. There are mountains in the distance. The sand is pure white. The water is crystal clear and perfectly see-through. The weather is perfect all year. What’s not to love about this beach? Nothing; that’s why it’s one of the best beaches for swimming in the country.
