Five Theme Parks in California You Should Try Out

theme parks

California isn’t just the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Golden Gate and the rolling hills and wineries of Napa Valley. There’s more than just beaches and fun in the sun; California may not be Florida in terms of theme parks, but the Golden State isn’t slacking in the theme park department. If you’re looking to have a little fun in the sun that doesn’t include the beach, you might want to try one of these awesome theme parks.

Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott’s Berry Farm is not what it sounds like. It’s a thrilling theme park with a lot more to do than what the name implies. One of the must-do things at Knott’s Berry Farm is to take the Perilous Plunge (no, it’s not a wedding). It’s the best roller coaster in the state. It’s just a few feet short of Niagra Falls in terms of height, and it’s nothing but thrilling. You’ll also enjoy a bevy of other rides, restaurants, and gift shops while you’re at the park, which is located in Buena Park.

Six Flags

There are Six Flags locations all over the country, but the one in Valencia is a must-see. One of the biggest pieces of advice you’ll receive when visiting this awesome amusement park is to wait at the front of the lines to make sure you get the front row on all the roller coasters; and there are several. Six Flags features family fun for parents and children of all ages, which is what makes this theme park so popular.

Disneyland

You can’t go to California without going to Anaheim for a day at Disneyland. The Disneyland resort is nothing short of completely magical, with its castles, rides, shows, and characters. There’s something for the whole family, from rides to character dinners and breakfasts. Your family will need a few days to see all the sites here, so plan accordingly and book suites near anaheim convention center for you and your family.

Universal Studios Hollywood

This Universal City theme park is perfect for adults. Some kids might enjoy the park, but mostly it’s for older guests. You’ll get backstage access to all your favorite movies, riding rides that simulate the best of the best action scenes and even touring replicated movie and television lots. You can even enjoy a cocktail at the many different restaurants and carts located around the park.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Unlike the Six Flags in Valencia, this Vallejo location is catered to kids. Your kids will love to see the marine and animal life at Discovery Kingdom. There are thrilling roller coasters, of course, but the aquariums and animal life make it more fun for smaller kids, which is a great alternative for those who want to enjoy the rides and make sure their kids get to have a little fun of their own.
