How to Save Money By Requesting Coupons from Companies

Saving money is always a good idea. Even if you don’t live on a tight budget, saving money can be something you do just for fun or just so you can bulk up that savings or retirement account. If you’re like me, you’re going to want to save for those four college educations and three little girl’s weddings some day. Clipping coupons is one way to save money when you shop, but did you know you can actually write letters to companies and request coupons from them? Here’s how.

Start with a List

Make a list of the things you use on a regular basis. It’s something that you need if you want to get started with this project. It can be an intimidating process to have to figure out to whom you want to write and to whom you’d like to ask for coupons. When you have a list of things you use and consume the most, you have a nice idea of where to get started.

Compose a Short but Sweet Note

The point here is to get to the point and get to it quickly. You don’t want to lose the interest of the reader before you have it, so go ahead and just state your name and that you love the company and you’d love to see if they would be willing to send you any coupons so you can buy more of their product. You can make it more personal, of course, but you get the point.

Get Online

The best way to write companies and ask for coupons is online. It’s faster than snail mail and much more appropriate in this technological age. Find the company’s website and look for their “Contact Us,” page. When you find it, fill out your information – don’t forget your home address – and ask for your coupons by including your form letter (the best idea is to copy and paste it).

Wait for Responses

This is the difficult part. Some companies might respond to you right away and others might take some extra time to send you a response. Some companies might send you coupons through email that you can print. Others might take the time to mail you coupons to your address. Either way, it’s fun to open your inbox or mailbox and see coupons in the mail.

Go Shopping

Now that you have your coupons, go shopping! Don’t forget to check your local store’s ads and coupons online to see if you can double up or if you can use your coupons when items are already on sale so you can save even more.
