There is nothing wrong with wanting to increase the value of your home, especially when you want to sell it; and a remodel is a guaranteed way to make your home more valuable. Or is it? Not all home remodels, renovations and upgrades are worth the money you pay. What this means is that sometimes you can actually add money to your home and not increase the value, which is not beneficial at all. One of the home upgrades that you may consider is having a new garage door, there are lots of new garage doors available in the market that will definitely improve the curb appeal and add value to your home. Some common upgrades aren’t worth the time or money you will spend making them, and we’re here to tell you precisely which upgrades cost more than they provide.

Overly Personal Upgrades

Granite, marble and quartz are all going to increase the value of your home when you choose them as counter upgrades, but not if you’re not careful. You can use all the best materials, but not everyone wants anything too personal. For example, marble is beautiful but not everyone wants a green marble countertop. Stick to neutrals to stay on track with the budget.

Pools

It might sound like this is an investment people are willing to pay more for, but it’s not always the case. Some people don’t care for a pool and are not willing to pay for the upkeep of having one. even if you live somewhere with amazing weather year-round, some people simply do not want a pool and will not pay for it, decreasing the value of your home.

Room Changes

We love the idea of having a home office, but not if it comes at the expense of getting rid of a bathroom or a bedroom. Most buyers are looking for at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and getting rid of those rooms to create a custom space is often a turn-off for buyers. You might think that getting rid of a walk-in closet in favor of a bigger room is a great idea, but no closet means no bedroom and your house just lost value. Opting a loft conversion done by a reputable loft conversion company is a much better idea.
