There are different types of dollar stores. There are some that simply sell greeting cards, wrapping paper, party supplies, knick knacks and small household items. Then there are the dollar stores that sell all of those items plus groceries, laundry supplies and toiletries. If you are looking for ways to save money then here are some reasons why you should shop at the dollar store.

While the individual item price may be more than a dollar, the prices are still quite a bit lower than you will find in your regular grocery store. You can also find some generic label brands at the dollar store for great prices. If you know how much you normally pay for items you can do some comparison shopping at the dollar store.

If you are looking for stuff that you would use in the shower everyday such as body wash or shampoo and conditioner, you will be able to buy those items for a dollar each. Compare a bottle of body wash from the dollar store with one from Walmart and you will find that you are basically buying the same product for a dollar instead of $7.00.

The larger dollar stores carry brand name and generic canned goods at a fraction of the cost of what your local grocery store sells them for. You will find canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, vegetables, soups, tuna, and more.

In certain states there are dollar stores that even sell fresh produce, eggs and milk for very low prices.

Many people think that the only people that shop at the dollar store are poor people who can’t afford to shop anywhere else. At one point that may have been true, but today more and more people want to find ways to save money, and shopping at the dollar store for common everyday items is a great way to do that.
