With Thanksgiving coming up this week, it’s officially the start of the holiday season, which spans through the end of the year. With the holiday season, it often means many holiday happenings, including parties galore! Aside from the special outfits we have for the occasions, we also tend to wear special items to accessorize our looks. Accessories for our hair often play a big part in finishing up our overall holiday look and one great hair accessory are hair bows. Appropriate for both young girls to even the adult woman, hair bows are a simple yet sweet way to dress up your tresses. You can leave your hair straight or curl the ends and your hairstyles will still look amazing with a hair bow. Here are steps on how to make your very own no-sew DIY hair bows, which are perfect for the holidays!

You will need the following to start off: 1 1/2 inch ribbon cut into two 8-inch pieces, a 3/8 of an inch ribbon cut into one 4-5 inch piece, a heat sealer (i.e. a lighter), a glue gun and a hair clip of your choice.

In order to prevent fraying, you’ll want to heat seal the ends of your 1 1/2 inch ribbons at the start. Just run the lighter over the ends of the ribbon real quick to seal and prevent the ends from fraying. Next, fold your 1 1/2 inch ribbons in half and make a nice crease along the middle. Add two lines of glue next to each side of the middle crease and fold the two ends over, making both ends meet at the center. Repeat with the other 1 1/2 inch ribbon. Then, taking one of the ribbon, make a crease in the middle in order to make a bow shape. Take your glue gun and place a dot of glue in the center and hold and set. Add dots of glue to the back creases and hold and set those as well.  Do the same exact thing to the other ribbon. When both are ready, place a dot of glue onto the top of one of the pieces and stick the other ribbon onto the top of the glued ribbon Hold in place to set the glue and ribbons together, then set aside. Take the clip and the small piece of ribbon and glue the ribbon over the clip. Grab the other small piece of ribbon and glue the end of the small ribbon onto the one big ribbon. Add a dollop of glue to the back of the big ribbon and then stick the glued ribbon to the back of the clip, holding on to make sure it sets. Then take the center piece ribbon and wrap around the middle of the bow and through the clip, securing it with glue. Now you have a hair bow that is ready to wear!
