A good boss is one that makes the workplace a place you’d like to be. A great boss is one that shows his or her appreciation of your hard work, offers constructive criticism and understands that perfection is not attainable, but does encourage you to be the best version of yourself. A great boss is someone who understands what it’s like to be a working parent, a working person, and just a person in general, and that makes it a lot easier on people. But then there is this guy; a Chinese billionaire who makes all great bosses look a little less great after his recent generous act. Li Jinyuan, the chairman of Tiens Group Company, recently took half his employees, approximately 6,400 people, on a four-day vacation to France.

He booked 140 hotels in Paris where he and his employees visited famous landmarks and enjoyed wonderful food and wine and fun and enjoyment, more than 4,700 rooms in 79 five star hotels (and a few four star hotels) in Monaco and Cannes and they even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for making a human chain along the Cote d’Azur.

The company was brought on this amazing four day vacation by their boss to celebrate 20 years in business, and he paid for everything. The estimated price he paid was tens of millions of dollars to fund this trip, and it was a huge success for the locations they visited, too, as it brought about a ton of money into their economies. The cost of the trip was substantial, but the tourism that it brought into the France area was good for them, as they are struggling in terms of their own economy.

All we can say is this; that’s a nice little work incentive from a boss that clearly wanted to make a statement. We do wonder what happened to the rest of his employees, however, since he did only bring half of them along.
