If This Doesn’t Inspire you to Do an Act of Kindness, Nothing Will

Being kind is something that we should all work harder at being. It costs nothing at all to be a nice person, but it provides you with everything. Think back on your life for a moment. Have you ever done something nice for no reason at all for someone that probably cannot repay you in any way? If you have, you know that the feeling you derived from this situation is unlike any other feeling you’ve ever experienced. It is one of sheer joy and heartfelt happiness. Even if the person to whom you are randomly kind can pay you back in full, the concept of doing something for someone out of the goodness of your heart often provides you with far more than repayment will ever provide.

Many of us work hard to be kind on a random basis, and that’s what it’s all about. Of course we should be kind on a daily basis, but sometimes it’s the most random things we do for others that restore our faith in humanity. It’s the woman in front of you at the supermarket putting back the vegetables she’s buying, or the milk she’s buying so that she can pay for the diapers she needs for the baby sleeping contently in a stroller when she realizes she hasn’t enough money; when you pay for her items on her behalf, you know you’re doing something good for someone else. Even if you’re not doing it for that woman, you are doing it for her baby.

Random acts of kindness hit us harder because they are just that; random. You don’t go out expecting to do something of this nature, and the feeling that you get when you make the decision to do something random and kind is so lovely. Being caught off guard in the moment in a situation that pulls at your heartstrings is beautiful, and sometimes a little sad. If the act in this video does not inspire you to do something wonderful for someone else, nothing will.
