Hyatt Makes Diamond and Platinum Status Match Official

Hyatt’s new status match program launched a little more than two months ago with virtually no fanfare. The program was talked about very little, and it wasn’t until last week that the hotel brand decided to go public with information that would change the way Hyatt guests enjoy their stays. Now the company is offering status match status to everyone, and it’s not that difficult to go about making it happen. Of course, you will have to talk to a live person, which is rarely everyone’s favorite thing to do in the land of text messages and emails, but it’s worth it if you like upgrades and free nights.

Some Hyatt Gold Passport members have used their Gold Passport email contact to sign up for the program, and it’s proven to work well through them. The terms state that this is an offer that is going toward anyone with a Starwood Preferred Guest status of any means.

  • Starwood Gold is matched as Hyatt Platinum
  • Starwood Platinum is matched as Hyatt Diamond

All Starwood Preferred Guest members must have at least one qualifying stay in either 2015 or 2016 to earn status match through this program. If you have either status through SPG right now, you can email or call Hyatt to ask about matching that status, and you will see your account updated almost immediately. The terms are very simple, too. All SPG and Hyatt rewards members have through February 29 to request their status match. Any requests received after the 29th will not be considered for this offer. Once your status is matched, it’s good for one full year – until February 28, 2017. It’s a good deal if you qualify, and one that is certainly worth taking the time to request so that you can enjoy more free nights, more upgrades and more perks at more hotels.
