Selling Your Home: 3 Tips to Help You Stress Less

Existing Home Sales

Selling your home is one of those things you’ll do in life that’s both exciting and stressful at the same time. There’s no getting around the fact that no matter how hard you try, you’ll run into issues that you don’t expect. Your house might sell the second you place it on the market and you’ll realize you weren’t ready for that and now you have to find somewhere to live in 30 days. You might not sell your house for months and that’s also stressful. When it’s time to list your home for sale, here are three tips that will make things a little less stressful.

Have a Plan

The last thing you want is to assume your house will sit on the market for a few months, giving you plenty of time to consider what you want next. It could sell tomorrow. For this reason, you need to have a backup plan. This might mean a place you can move into while you search for the perfect home, a rental idea you’ve considered while you finish building your next home or even just where you’re going to store your belongings if you have to downsize for a few months while you look for a new home. Just have a plan.

Prep First

Before you list your home, prep it for sale. This means eliminating all your clutter, cleaning your house from top to bottom, landscaping, pressure washing and staging. You’ll want to have this all finished prior to listing your home so that you don’t turn off any potential buyers with an unprepared home.

Don’t Panic

The housing market is uncertain at best right now. Just because your house doesn’t sell quickly doesn’t mean it won’t sell. And just because you had four offers within 3 hours of listing doesn’t mean you settled for a price far too low. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and accept what’s offered to you.
